Death
was unfair for the umpteenth time yesterday after tragedy struck
without prior notification as a fresh graduate of the Imo State
University took his last breath as students poured him water in
jubilation of final year completion.
What seem to be a jubilation turned
into a gathering of sorrow within spilt seconds after the victim, who
was running away from a number of students who pursued him to pour
dirty water on him, fell into a soak-away pit and got drowned. . .
To
compound the trouble, the water from the pit was partially passing a
light current as the pit is dug beside their transformer where
earth-wire is buried.
Many universities have banned the tradition of
pouring of water but in their usual manner, many students have remained
hell bent on practicing it. R.I.P to the dead. Sad!!!
