Fierce Tension Ensues In Gabon Over President Bongo’s Nigerian Lineage

There have been deep rooted speculations over the nationality of the Gabonese president Ali Bongo, with many suggesting that he is of Nigerian heritage.

At the moment there is crisis in the Central African country and part of the grievances is that they cannot have a foreigner (Nigerian) ruling them. Security forces were out in large numbers on Saturday to prevent hundreds of demonstrators from gathering at Libreville’s Rio Intersection for a rally that had been outlawed by the interior ministry the day before.

“Ali, get out! 50 years is too long!” the crowd chanted.

President Ondimba took office after the 2009 death of his father Omar Bongo, who had been in power since 1967.

Ahead of the demo the United Nations’ special representative for central Africa, Abdoulaye Bathily, had urged the government and the opposition to commit to dialogue to prevent “a deep crisis” in the former French colony.

The political climate in Gabon worsened recently with the publication of a book by journalist Pierre Pean that accuses the president of having falsified his birth certificate and diplomas.

In November 2014, the opposition filed a complaint against the president but prosecutors threw it out.

Same can be said of the Power couple, Jay Z and Beyonce. Earlier this week, Markus Persson, the creator of Minecraft, outbid them on the Beverly Hills mansion they’d been checking out and interested in for months. He purchased the property for $70 million, the most anyone has ever paid for a home in Beverly Hills. Though the mansion may have taken chunk out of Persson’s wallet, there’s definitely a lot more where that came from. 

Few months ago, Persson sold his video game company to Microsoft for $2.5 billion, then bought his new home this week for $70 million, which is actually $15 million lower than the original asking price. The exquisite mega mansion came with cases of Dom Perignon, a car showroom, a movie theater, a candy room (which would have been paradise for Blue Ivy), a 16-car garage,Yves Saint Laurent fire extinguishers​, among many other extravagant features.

Pregnant Woman Beaten Heavily To Coma For Grabbing Okada Rider’s PENIS

A commercial motorcycle operator has allegedly beaten a seven- month pregnant woman to coma along Lagos-Badagry expressway, near Oluti bus stop in Lagos State.

According to reports, the woman was said to have paid the unknown rider a stipulated amount of money to convey her from Iyana Iba to First Gate bus stop, Maza Maza.

An eyewitness, who identified herself simply as Mama Bola disclosed that the pregnant woman, Feyisara, when she regained consciousness in a private hospital, along Old Ojo Road, Agboju area, said the agreement was for the rider to move her to First Gate only for him to stop near Oluti, screaming at her to get off from the motorcycle.

Saudi Arabia: We'll never cut oil production

Saudi Arabia has a tough message for oil producers hurting from the price crash: We'll never cut our output. In an exclusive interview with CNN, Saudi oil minister Ali al-Naimi also said he wasn't conspiring to take out rival producers by driving down the price.

"These rumors or whoever generated them, is completely mistaken," he said.

U.S. crude prices have slumped by nearly 50% in six months, the sharpest fall for many years.

Bus Station Bombing Kills 20 In Gombe

At least 20 people were killed Monday when an explosion rocked a bus station in the northeast Nigerian city of Gombe, which has recently come under repeated attacks blamed on Boko Haram insurgents, officials said.

The incident happened when a homemade bomb planted near a bus exploded as people were boarding ‎at the Dukku bus station, triggering a fire that consumed vehicles, authorities said.

"So far, 20 people have been killed in the explosion and another 18 were badly injured," said Mato Yakubu, Gombe state director of the National Orientation Agency (NOA).

An official with the Nigerian Red Cross in the city said 20 bodies were evacuated to a local morgue.
