The retired general's first tweets were to thank his supporters and volunteers, and all those who have supported his campaign and spread his messages through different handles. This follows his message on the day in which he spoke directly to Nigeria’s youth in the country’s major newspapers.
The former Head of State also expressed appreciation to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, who had also sought the APC's presidential nomination.
"Thank you [Atiku] @atiku, your service to our great party continues to inspire. #APC #ThingsMustChange," the tweet read.
Buhari recently emerged candidate for the contest under the banner of the APC, the country's major opposition party. Last week, Buhari selected as his running mate, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, former Lagos State Attorney General, and his campaign director, Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi.
Buhari’s social media handles on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Youtube are @thisisbuhari. His official URL is www.thisisbuhari.com.
